There have been around 10 of them up for sale in the last couple of weeks, several in good shape but missing a few key caps for under $100. It's taken a few rounds of relisting for them to be sold. Makes me think all of the EXTREMELY RARE descriptions may be stretching the truth a bit. I'm thinking that the more well-heeled buyers bought early, and these may go down a bit further in price.

Good to be skeptical! You have my approval! Restraint on the part of buyers will make for better, more stable and subdued, prices. It also helps keep the market from getting too frothy.

This one looks pretty mint though, at least.

"For parts or not working" --> probably worth asking the seller if it's tested/unworking or simply untested.

I have an F-122 at home and an M-122 at work. I bolt-modded the M, but didn't use loctite. I've had to adjust the nuts two or three times when the F-24 key (mapped to 'power') would spontaneously fire. I was in the middle of doing something really important, it misfired and slept my computer. The F has always 'felt better', but I'm not super picky; After that incident, I had to pull out a Sun6pc to finish the day. I've been carrying the F-122 to work and back home each day since then. I managed to get one of the couple of F-122 at the listed price. It's more than I paid for the M-122, but a tenth of a kilobuck (shipped!) the reliability is worth it to me.

What!

I thought that it was insane back when Apple put "Power" buttons on keyboards in the 1980s!

Even the infamous "Control-Alt-Delete" was created so that it couldn't be done without using both hands.

I have never bolt-modded an M-122, but I have never had a problem with nuts loosening on a regular M.

I bolt modded it after I opened it up and the rivets came off just looking at them. The power button brings up a dialog box in OSX; hitting 'enter' did the sleeping.

I'd love to live in alternative world where Sun was still around and making awesome Solaris laptops. This is not it. Instead, I have a Macbook and OSX. I have bigger fish to fry than 'which version of linux/bsd i'm going to run on a not-ibm thinkpad?' these days.

In any case, I used the default M/F-122 config for soarer's and just haven't gotten around to remapping it the way I want. When it first happened, I took it apart and weedled with the nuts. Went back to working perfect for a few months. In the mean time, I'd had some seat-time on the F and was debating getting another one anyhow. It was a clear cut choice when I dropped to black after a misfire. I'll fidgit with it at some point, but I feel its days as a full-time device are numbered.

time on the F and was debating

I have about 3-4 immaculate Model Ms but I have hardly touched them in 2 years since I got a Teensy and Soarer's with a Model F.

There is no comparison.
