Hi,
I use Windows7. I've now an IntelliMouse Optical (IMO). I also had an expensive IntelliMouse Explorer, but it has died (and I think it is also only 400 DPI). But the IMO is too slow for the 2560x1440 monitor (mouse setting: fastest). The low DPI is at fault here. (Well... Windows can't set the speed higher for a 400 DPI mouse.)
I'm looking for a mouse which:
-Has a scroll wheel button which does require little force to press (like the IMO).
-Has a scroll wheel button which works without triggering accidental vertical scrolling (which does not happen with the IMO).
-Has 800 DPI or higher (unfortunately, my IMO has only 400 DPI - otherwise, I could use it).
-Has 4 or 5 buttons (including the wheel button, which I define to 'double click'). Although I don't use the lower right button on the IMO (I can't click with my pinky), that's no problem - I just disable it. But I use the lower left button (define to 'back'). More than 5 buttons would not be a real problem, if they don't get in the way and if I can disable them.
I absolutely hate the 'Enhance Pointer precision'-option; then it requires too much force to use the mouse. I instantly get RSI when using that setting. (The fact that it is a default setting: this could be the biggest cause of RSI worldwide, given that Windows is so much wide spread.)
Nowadays, webshops ask to test a mouse yourself (instead of answering questions about it) in a store before ordering them at the webshop. Well, duh... As if there are shops in the neighourhood with all kind of (good) mice, and then they still shouldn't mind opening the package. Anyway, I don't have many computer shops in short reach.
All mice which I've been able to test so far, require much force to press the wheel button (again: RSI), or the wheel scrolls way too easily (accidently) when just pressing it.
Does anyone know if this one is any good?

g500s?

g500s?
I would say g500S too. You didn't say if you wanted it to be wireless but I don't think so(mx revolution if you want wireless). Also what kind of grip do you use?

It has sidescrolling though, doesn't it?

Yup it does:

Scroll Wheel : Hyper-fast; supports horizontal

In my experience implies unwanted sidescrolling and wiggling in case of wheel clicks. The wheel caused me RSI too.

Wired. I don't wanna change batteries. If playing poker, I can't have a sudden empty mouse.
Grip: I'm right handed.
Some seem to prefer the G400s.

g500s has more buttons, which is what you wanted
iirc g500s has fixed sensor so its a direct upgrade from the g400

Zowie EC1, or FK/AM if you want symmetrical.

I recommend the Logitech g500s as some have already mentioned. The unlockable scroll wheel is awesome at preventing RSI for me. It also has a lot of buttons, an ergonomic shape and adjustable DPI. Hope that helps.
