hello agent mosquito. awesome video.

LOL I love that video

When I was in the service solid cold worked aluminum riveting was part of my training and I had to do some as well in the fleet. This has some very good information. The "sheet metal riveting clamps" they referred to are called Cleco clamps. I actually wish they would have had this video in my training. All info given is very accurate.
Although, if you have seen one of the rivet guns in action you wouldn't let one in the same building as your M.

Hahaha. You can get smaller guns for this sort of work though, right?

They don't hit that much lighter and hit much faster.

Either way even these smaller guns would smash the barrel plate to bits. Now if there was a version of the M that had a metal barrel plate I would be all over that like a fat kid on a cupcake.

 That would be so glorious...

I could be done I would think. All aluminum. It would be simple rolled aluminum for the actual back plate and extruded aluminum for the actual barrels with laser welding. Though the laser welding and the custom die for the extrusion would be expensive as hell. I still want one.
This would probably be my unicorn board. But have the circuitry resemble the F just for the NKRO geek factor. Ohh and MX compatible stems for customization goodness.

I wish I could hot rivet at home instead of just doing pop rivets.

Don't need to get them hot. You can cold work rivets. It just works a lot easier with aluminum. We had one of these (http://www.skygeek.com/ats-da-5.html) in out shop. Worked great on small pieces we could take into the shop and could get the jaws around.
