Since it's about a year since SmallFry departed, and I came across this article, I thought I'd share it.
https://sg.news.yahoo.com/ohio-couple-married-70-years-die-15-hours-145159516.html
When other people pass on, it often makes us reflect on ourselves.
The couple in the article are pretty nondescript. They didn't get rich, do great things, or achieve anything spectacular. But I think their life is about as meaningful as life gets, and they spent their time on earth well.
What is your definition of having led a good life?

that's a touching story. i don't think i'll make it to 90+. and honestly, i don't want to be old.

Agreed. I don't think I could deal with the lack of the ability to do so many things I love, but I respect anyone who can. My great grandparents are 101 and 98 and just celebrated their 80th anniversary.

I love threads like this. They really make you think and connect with people...
For me, I'd define a "good life" as simply being happy with yourself, your friends/family, and just being an overall decent person.
I'd get deeper into this, as a "good life" is about 1,000,000,000 times more complicated than this, but for me, the simplest explanations are sometimes the best.

Is it a year already? Yikes! I still get a slight pang when I see a thread he started, or an old post :(
I'd say the definition of a good life is to have improved someone else's life a little. Like, made someone else smile. Brought a little joy into their life.
It may not mean anything to you at the time and you may forget it, but for the other person it might be a life-changer, and they may hold your words or deed close to their heart for the rest of their life.

I think happiness is a state of mind everyone should strive for and it doesn't really come automatically from life you live and things you do. It's something that originates from ones attitude of life and how he decides to view things. When one's happy then he finds his ways to do things he really wants to do in his life. When you see a person who has led a good life and is clearly a happy individual, he is not not happy because of the life he led, but because he was happy he could strive for to live the life he really wanted.
