Title: IBM M13 $99 BIN
Post by: intelli78 on Fri, 25 April 2014, 19:30:07
Seller thinks it's all working, trackpoint untested and missing red cap. Still a very solid deal. Somebody get this.

....and a bid.

WHY

WHY

The question is: Why would a seller be so stupid as to set a starting price and a Buy-It-Now far apart?

I would've bought it.

Sigh...

It is thoughtless pricing by the seller, yes, but not as blameworthy as the sourpuss who saw this post and put in a bid to spoil the find within seconds. D:

Perhaps somebody is willing to pay $60 for it but not $99?

It is all just a game.

As someone who has bought and sold hundreds of items at many different categories and price ranges and formats, I have gained a very good understanding of how to buy and sell to my own advantage.

Short-circuiting a Buy-It-Now with a low start and too-high BIN is a good way to get a bargain, but only if no one else sees it or becomes interested. In any case, do it at the end and not the beginning.

That is advice to the buyer. In this case, someone has probably given the seller a higher final price, but it will take him a week longer to see the money.

As always: if you are a seller, choose auction or fixed price, but not both, and set the price at a high reasonable price that will sell.

Exactly. Last time a black M13 was on eBay for $60 BIN, I didn't buy it 'cause I didn't think it was worth. In this case, I wolud have bid. Who sets a BIN that high?

But then again, perhaps I underestimate the desirability of this keyboard.

I guess these are pad printed, that A has some bits missing.

I might try and buy this, it would look really sick with black blanks and a black trackpoint.

Was the whole Wildcats set pad printed? For some reason I thought it was just the modifiers.

the dark blue keys are. so the modifiers and some of the function keys, part of the tenkey, etc.

basically anything with white lettering is padprint.

eBay auction $ 60.99 right now (a Mexican one)

http://www.ebay.com/itm/331186042570

Good besides "the rubber cap for the trackpoint is not present."

But people just want the black caps, right? :)

And there is a Made in USA one here that is currently at $68.00 and ending sooner:

Any real difference USA vs Mexico made?

I merged this for you since we already had a thread on it, at least the first one (though when it was originally posted it was BIN)

Can't you just buy those black caps from Unicomp?
