Title: Recommended O-Rings for HHKB
Post by: Shyfe on Sat, 26 April 2014, 00:07:15
Hey guys. I'd like to do a silent mod on my HHKB. What O-rings would you recommend? I saw the WASD keyboard ones, but they don't look like they're the right size. I imagine stretching them would cause them to have a higher effective hardness.

3/16" or 1/8" dental bands.

You can also use one of these methods:

Looks good. Does anyone know the exact diameter of the slider? 3/16" and 1/4" seems like a pretty significant difference.

Many others and I have used 3/16" dental bands in ours, and Glissant has used 1/8" without any problems, so both works at least.

Did you mean 1/8"? because that's only 1/16" difference. hell, even 1/4" is 1/16" difference.

epzy is right :). I used 1/8" on my hhkb pro 2, and it's made the board a lot more quiet without sacrificing any travel. Your mileage may vary ;).

That being said; I keep hearing that o2dazone's mod is excellent. It's just a little more work.
