Thank god. I thought after I pushed that button that I had made a terrible mistake.
Where can I source some replacement caps from? If all else fails I can get some, but I don't really want to take some from work...
-
Aw damn, can't believe I missed that. I've been wanting an M at a good price for a while now

Me too hah, I was just browsing after paying for another item, saw it with a BIN and just couldn't resist :)
Sorry bro :)

You can get keycaps from Unicomp.

I know, right?

So should I just get single printed ones and then some RGB modifiers? Because the sets don't really have very good descriptions and I am new to the whole Model M thing :(

I never bought anything from them so I'm no sure but I don't see where you would buy a replacement Ctrl keycap on their site.
Oh and of course you can also look in the classifieds, there's a lot of people who have Model M parts and uncomplete keycap sets.

OK :) Thanks very much, I shall have a good look around.

To avoid getting a 1k ctrl keycap, you should open a support ticket and tell them what you need.
Pearl is the lighter colours. Pebble is the darker one on your KB.

Ahhh, thank you. I thought I was looking for granite, hah, glad you told me that!
Yeah, I have opened a support ticket with them already to see if they can help me out. Thanks.

fwiw, the grey they have is really nice: got metallic flakes and everything, it'll just look ugly on your model M :p Works well with the unicomp black cases though.
-
Hahaha thanks for the heads up. I might look into getting a couple of singels at some point :)
-
Yeah, when you put in an order for single random keys there is a place for you to describe what ones are needed. I got a bunch of stuff once from them and they got all of the random single keys right first try. Even the "+ on the numpad" which is exactly what I typed in for that one.

For missing keys on an original Model M, the better source might be clickykeyboards.com.
Unicomp is great for custom BS keys (that's where I bought my red escape and Geek Hack keys) :).
Congrats on your "new" Model M !

I don't know about international shipping, but as I remember, and entire standard M set is only about $30, so you could fill out your set and do some dye experiments ....
