I to like diagonal cuts.
I prefer diagonal cut, but I often use a horizontal cut when in a hurry.
-
Have been doing the diagonal for years - it really is the best way!

This. My mom used to cut my sandwiches that way throughout grade school, always been my favorite method. Although, I do just dive in sometimes too like clib's method.

Only when sesame seeds are involved.

Then I guess demik takes his sandwich circular. :p

I love sesame seed bread, but the store is usually out of it.
Diagonal cut every time, and on a long sandwich like a submarine I make a series of diagonal cuts 3" (10 cm) each.
You didn't ask, but I also like toasted, re-assembled (to better adhere internally), then cooled back to room temperature before slicing.
-
Vertical cut or horizontal cut depending on what kind of break I'm using.
-
If it's a square slice of bread and you aren't cutting diagonal then you're doing it wrong. No exceptions.

Why only square?
Obviously, circular sandwiches are better, cut, also, right?
-
I take it back, this is the best way:
-
I use hoagie rolls for sandwiches, and I cut them at an angle.
-
I prefer round rolls :p

Spam FTW!

depends on the bread...
vertical cut for big bread, diagonal for small bread

No one cuts more than once? What is it? Too confusing to make an x. 4 triangles > 2.

My experience is that the smaller your sandwich pieces, the greater the likelihood of a piece being stolen by a significant other.
This is why my sandwiches are never cut.
This is also why I eat my sandwiches in the bathroom.

That sounds sanitary.

I imagine TJ sipping tea with his pinky out and eating finger sandwiches in front of his computer now

That's why you lay the ground rules early by showing said SO the scar on your middle finger where the knife you just used to cut your sandwich into tiny delicious marvels tried to cut your finger off. Imply that it would be a shame if you had to go to urgent care because of theft. Or that something happened to those pretty hands...

The problem with smaller pieces is I want more that way.

Lifehack, bro.
You can tell your friends "I ate like 400 sandwiches".
You tell your SO "I barely ate a whole sandwich"

Cutting sandwiches takes way too much time.

I don't see how. Do you want me to keep my jigsaw in my kitchen instead?

No cut for me too.

Neuk to neuk.

Diagonal, or sometimes no cut. Perpendicular cuts are a tool of Satan.
-
I don't know my woman makes my sandwiches...
-
I don't think I have ever cut my sammich. Just mash the whole thing into my face, mostly...
-
I don't even cut it! Why does it need to be cut? It is all going into your gut anyways!
-
I don't cut my sandwiches either..
I once had a sandwich with a huge piece of Taiwanese style fried chicken inside. They cut it into 4 triangles and the mayo & tomatoes kept oozing out.. How are you even supposed to eat a sandwich that's been cut into 4 triangles?! You take one bite, and you're left with the crust.
