About six months ago my video card started making a strange noise once my computer comes out of sleep mode or starts up for a few minutes then resumes back to silent. Since then I've been getting 1-2 blue screens a month usually running a stream or game. Today I had a teamliquid stream up and diablo 3. I got my usual 3007 error (which is a dc error) but this time instead of going to the login screen it goes straight to blue screen. I have already checked my video drivers and they are all updated. I have a HIS Radeon 7870 and these are the STOP codes I'm getting:
0x8 (0x0000000000000008)
0x80050031 (0x0000000080050031)
0x406F8 (0x00000000000406F8)
0xFFFF800034F583F
Any help would be great as my video card is still under warranty but I'm not sure how to prove it's a video card problem. I have already ran a burn in test so I don't think it's overheating. I did a memtest too on my ram for over half of it with no problems.
I'll update as needed and get you guys any info that might help.

As I can recall at least half of the blue screens that come I am running some kind of video at the time.
Thanks

The STOP I don't know, but could be a broken cooling fan, especially as you mentioned it would blue screen when you were running a game i.e. when the card was under load.

bluescreenview (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html) is a helpful tool... try loading that and see what addtional detail you can get without having to write everything down at the time of the event.
-
When using bluescreenview do I have to wait until I get another blue screen or should it load from the default folder?

I just realized that's Serial Experiments Lain... but Bluescreen view should be able to load a previous event, as long as there is at least a minidump available.

Correct! If only I was as good. But we all have things to learn. So I watched some more videos on the program and it seems I have 0 dump files in the default folder so that's why it magically doesn't appear. I am assuming this startup and recovery is correct as it's the same as I've seen in the videos.

I want to make sure it's not auto deleting the files that I need to look at.

That looks correct, there should be .dmp files around somewhere for it to read...

After more investigation I no longer this it's the video card. You might be surprised at the time it took me to realized that it's probably my processor. I have a FX-8320 and I believe it's coming from the stock fan. (since the video card is so close I just assumed maybe?) I read about how the 8000 series doesn't have the best coolers but would overheating cause a bluescreen and not just an auto shut down? I have not had a shut down since the first post but there are times where it does still create the noise.
I also did a new temp test

If it is the fan and if it is overheating and I should buy another I have been recommended

Thanks for looking!

Those temps don't seem too serious, my CPU gets up in the mid-70s playing certain games. But I would still recommend an aftermarket cooler, as it will increase the life of the CPU significantly by keeping it cold

Download bluescreenview and see what the actual cause is.
It could be drivers issues like a ton of people had (thanks nvidia)
What kind of gpu do you have?
