Title: Datalux Spacesaver
Post by: maxtortheone on Sun, 04 May 2014, 15:07:26
Hello everyone, new here but found this rather interesting. Not sure on switches but still not bad considering they're new.

Cool looking board, definitely interested in what switches are on there -- anyone seen this before?

Welcome to GH!

Mechanical, but not great to type on (can't remember, but I don't think mine's cherry).  Key spacing is pretty tight.  I'd pull mine out to check, but I think it's at the back of the cupboard.

Price is pretty good, though.

Deskthority says either MEI switch or Cherry ML.

Mine's MEI then.  I'd recommend getting the seller to pop off a cap and take pictures.  If they are willing, ask for the serial number and ask devlin if they could tell you anything about it.

CIDUC01 is the model but doesn't show up anywhere, info wise.

I've seen that before.  I wonder how much you will accidentally hit the letter keys when using the keys on top.

That version is MEI: supposedly bad to type on.

Looks interesting, I think I have a datalux somewhere but it has bad rubber domes.

Are you sure it's not bad MEI switches?

I cannot express enough how miserable MEI switches are.
Can. Not.

I'm a little rusty on my keyswitch metaphors but I never used MLs if that's what you're referring to, so no comparison to be had.
Summing up my memory of MEIs...short travel, kinda high friction, unpleasant and unexpected bottom-out.

ML's are pretty decent, in my opinion. I am sure he is referring to MY

Right you are. It's been at least 2 years since I've read anything about either of them so it's all just a blur :)

But regardless, I remember MEI, and you don't want em.
