Amazon had the QFR at $85 for quite a while, but now it's up to $115. Anyone know where one can be found for about $85?
-
Try TBC. Might still have it for sale. Shipping might not be great if you're not in Canada.

I could definitely be wrong, but I think that might be the best price right now. Quick search couldnt find anything lower than $113 for the QRF with greens on mechanicalkeyboards.com
I got mine for $115 on Amazon.
Otherwise maybe you can get a good deal from the Classifieds section?
-
Thanks. The Amazon prices include free 2 day shipping though. $90 + shipping for a used board would be almost as much as a new one.
-
$115 isn't that bad. I just feel like a **** for not buying it when it was cheaper. I get the impression that these don't sell quickly in the classifieds (if I don't like it)? I still have a Filco MJ2 NIB blacks that I can't get rid of.
-
Ouch! Is $175 in Australia :(
For $85 even with the exorbitant postage, it would still be cheaper than buying locally.

What's the difference in build quality between the QFR and Code with greens? I don't care about back-lighting. I do like the solid feel of Filco and Leopold. I've never used a QFR or Code.

I like my QRF, but a friend of mine at work just got the CODE and I've got to say I was really impressed. The build quality is excellent -- the only thing I would say is that the key presses have an every so slight ping to them due to the plate. I like the sound, he say he doesnt though.
All in all, very nice keyboard in my opinion, but its like $40 more than the QFR.
The QFR is also a great board though.

Is the QFR not plate mounted? Ping and noise in general don't bother me. I use an SSK as my daily driver, but switch between my LeoBlues and HHKB Pro sometimes.

QFR is plate mounted yes but for whatever reason people are reporting the CODE has quite a bit of ping.

I've read the specs on actuation forces, but how do MX Blue, MX green, an BS compare in reality? I own, use, and like the blues and BS. Blues are a little too light for me most of the time and I'd like a heavier version. I assume the greens fit that bill. Do they feel any "heavier" than BS?

WASD bare bones v2 was in stock for $95 with greens. Sold out for now though...

Awesome, man! That cuts the price by $70. And I would want some nice thick PBT to replace the ABS keycaps anyway.
-
...where can I get some decent PBT (blank, black or grey) keycaps to go with it?

I have all 3 (QFS with greens, Ducky with blues, Model M).
The blues are, obviously, the lightest.
Model M is heaviest.
Greens are in between, probably slightly closer to BS than blues.
The Model M is also a much bigger and heavier keyboard than the QFR, which makes it feel more solid.
-
Thanks for the input rowdy. That's pretty much what I expected to hear and they sound like the perfect MX for me. Now to play the waiting game...
-
The only thing is that the click from MX greens is much lighter than that from the Model M. Sounds very much like blues.
Sort of compare "tick tick tick" from the blues/greens to "clack clack clack" from the Model M.

One more quick question...are the keycaps from my Leopold FC200xx(tkl otaku) interchangeable (other than the space bar) with the CODE TKL or QFR?

AFAIK yes, except for the space bar, as you are already aware.

Just noticed the barebones v2 is in stock with greens; http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/index.php/products/mechanical-keyboard/wasd-v2-87-key-barebones-mechanical-keyboard.html#ad-image-0

Just ordered one for less than the QFR shipped. Nice! Now where can I get some blank black or grey PBT?
-
...and I ordered the Ducky blank black PBT keycaps from MechKB. Could have gone el cheapo on the keycaps but I've been spoiled by the PBT on the SSK and and HHKB. The main thing I don't like about the Leopold I have is that the stock ABS keycaps were smooth within a few months. Thanks for the help guys!

That would also work out less than a QFR sourced locally for me, even with the inflated international shipping

Yeah, you guys get screwed on shipping and taxes with a lot of stuff. All I can say is I feel sorry for you. :(
...and you have to be smarter shoppers than the rest of us.
