DCS?
Can't seem to find them anywhere.
-
Thin ABS in OEM profile. Are you looking for replacements?
-
No I'm looking for a similar style, picked a storm up at the goodwill and I really like the feel of them.
I'm actually very surprised at how much I like them.

Any thin ABS set in OEM profile will be very similar to CM Storm caps.
-
Well if you really do like them, I guess WASDKeycaps would be the closest thing you can find to them if you are looking for a little more customization with your keycaps. :)
-
This is actually my first mechanical, not counting an old model M. It's nice to have a board that reasonably fits on my desk. Sounds like I got the cheapest crappiest possible caps available and they still feel great.
Any advice on the next logical upgrade for caps, cause this space bar is ugly.

Priceless...
CM definitely worth Goodwill prices...in my not-so-humble-opinion.

Which CM did you find there?

It was a Storm. Here she is all cleaned up, the only sort of issue is it looks like it might have been dropped or had something dropped on the left shift/z key. If you don't open the album it's got blues. Good find haha

Welcome to Geekhack!
Aww, that looks just like my QFR used to.
Lots of people swap keycaps out pretty soon after getting a QFR - maybe some kind person will offer you their set.
-
Who knows maybe it is your old QFR ;)
And I'm sure somewhere down the line someone will offer me something nice, Seems like a pretty tight knit, knowledgeable group of people here.
I've actually been looking into mechanical for a while and didn't quite know where to hop in. I really wanted to build one, so apart from other lucky finds, that'll probably be my next step. I can totally see spending real money on these now, and I loves me a good project.
Thanks for the greeting!

Storms are decent...caps are junk though...

Nice find!
Unrelated, i see you're a fan of YMS?
you've got his website up on your left monitor, i think. Nice to see another fan, he's hilarious.
-
It's a quickfire rapid.
Goodwill? Really? Has the left alt got that intermittent defect or something? lol nice find
-

Nope - I can see my QFR sitting on the shelf with Rowdybeit keycaps (Rowdy's version of Handarbeit).

I'm in the market for keycaps, what would you suggest?

Yeah YMS is great! His review of the Walking Dead is so spot on. He's a little slow on the updates, but with how much detail he puts into his videos you really cant blame him.

My bad, yeah, I didn't realize that was CM's line of keyboards and not the model. As for the left control, no issues here, my minds eye sees some guy's wife nagging him about how loud this board is.

Man, you'd think with that many different colors it somehow wouldn't work but that is quite sexy.

I definitely have plans to doctor this up, still exploring the site and I hadn't looked at the QFR modding section yet. I don't see any screws so taking the face plate off sounds might dangerous, but I'm sure if I poke around enough I'll stumble on a guide on how to do that.

It does work surprisingly well!
The original Handarbeit is described here (http://pinchocodia.tistory.com/17) if you haven't encountered it before.

Thank god for chrome translation! Not seeing where to buy em though, are these one of those super limited time offers? Very cool.

Not available.
The original was a one-off (or perhaps two- or three-off).
There have been several attempts to reproduce the set in modern times, but all have fallen through.

Well, not sure about the fit but we have several in stock, for example:
http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=773 (personal fav, I own these)
and
http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=864
Our (MK) whole list is at the link below:

Now, all advertising aside. I recommend keycaps that fit your mood and comfort level. From my experience with CM's I like the font on most, but the feel is not very good. Once you type on PBT, you will know what I am talking about. If money is to be invested in overall keycaps, and not just Novelties, then PBT is the better buy than ABS. But, ABS has its place with Double Shots of popular novelties, but IMHO ABS is not to be pad printed on and used for the entire keyboard. Leave all that to the rubber dome mfrs out there...you know who you are...
