I'm looking to build an Atreus (https://github.com/technomancy/atreus) keyboard with all Cherry MX Red's, but it seems crazy to buy the switches at $2 a piece on WASD.
Does anyone know where else I could get them, for cheaper?
On a similar note, is harvesting them super hard? And in that case, does anyone have a dead board with reds that I can take off their hands? :)

These are plate mount if that will work for your application.

Mechanicalkeyboards.com has them for 0.50$ per switch: http://mechanicalkeyboards.com/shop/index.php?l=product_detail&p=846

It's not "hard" but it consumes a bit of time. And of course you need some soldering equipment first if you don't have some yet. Since you want to build a keyboard you will need some anyways though ;)
