oh **** i forgot to say, I'm also releasing the sketchup file. not just the stl.
This is really neat :) Thanks for doing the legwork for folks.
3D printing will put me out of a craft, I swear ;)

It would be cool to see a non-transparent version for boards without backlighting.

look at it as an opportunity! order a print from shapeways, make a mold, and cast em.
Dude if you made one in topre with a matching FN key

Then I wouldn't be sculpting my keys by hand :) The opportunity to practice a craft is lost.
Like I said. This'll give any joe, ****, or harry the means to copy pasta some 3D models and make a key. I truly picked the wrong time to get into sculpting :(

3D modeling and printing surely gives jerks such as myself the means to make something that we want, but the hand-sculpted caps have a... je ne sais quoi? The organic feel of the shapes and the detail that can't be attained with FDM (or even SLA) printing really make a difference.
Making multiple mock-ups of a cap via 3D printing, then settling on a final design is how Bro Caps made the V2, isn't it? If you wanted to, you could even use a 3D print as your master for a mold. Creating custom caps via casting still has the advantages of better detail, less cost for volume production, better and more varied materials, etc.
I'm of the opinion that there's room for a whole spectrum of methods.
edit: Binge when are you gonna make some topre fn caps i need a bingecap+fn key for my new HHKB!
holy ****, it will match my esc key. Looks like I gotta set aside some money now :pThis is really neat :) Thanks for doing the legwork for folks.

next topre fn will have a moose head on it.
Any Chance we will get to see a Cherry MX version of this key?
Do I use 3.1 or MEGATRQN.stl?
https://github.com/counterglitch/MEGATRQN
Received a purple transformer cap from shapeways today, visually its spot on but the stem for the mx-stem is entirely too tight, I had to use my dremel tool to open the "port" so it would sit properlyShow Image(http://i.imgur.com/zWGXye0.jpg)
you can see in this pic that it is sitting level with the other caps, but when I first stuck it on the stem there was a visible gap where you could see the plate under the keycapsShow Image(http://i.imgur.com/tiPegQJ.jpg)
I didn't know you could 3D print keys! Nice job.YEAH SAME EARLIER THIS WEEK I LEARNED I COULD PRINT WORDS ON PAPER WITH MY PRINTER
