If a tree falls in the woods and no one hears it
would a hipster buy the soundtrack?

Is it bad that I actually have some John Cage on my computer?

Of course not—John Cage is the man.  Was the man.  I guess he is just a corpse now.  I know a lot of people's knowledge of John Cage is limited to a mocking understanding of 4'33", but he was much more than that and had immeasurable impact on the role of randomness in music.  I do think 4'33" is reasonably important, however, and I also question why we retrospectively look upon such works as though the composers/artists were humorless beings.
