Title: [WTB] Topre modifiers
Post by: Rafen on Sat, 10 May 2014, 06:06:45
I am looking to purchase the modifier sets like what Elitekeyboards use to carry. Let me know if you are selling some or know where I can purchase some. The colors I would like are green or red, but I could be open to other options. Thanks for looking.

I only found some printed realforce modifiers on Taobao as I am looking for non-printed modifiers quite a long time...

Not the link you paste and you can check the history transaction records. The shop owner not online as half a year...

I have bought a set from this link: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=2013.1.0.0.AItA4j&id=14384988030&source=superboss&appId=13

I would like to suggest you could find someone in China to do this if you have not buy any thing on Taobao.

I can help you buy keycaps on Taobao but they won't sell few keycaps instead of a full set.

I don't have a problem purchasing a full set. Do you know how much they would cost?

You aren't interested in White blanks are you? I bought a full set from EK and decided that I just can't use blanks on my HHKB... i need the legends even though I touch type...(I guess I'm not L33T - or however the kids now adays call it)

Yeah, I'm in the same boat as you. I touch type but like the legends just in case. Thanks for the offer.

Which color would you like to buy? I can ask the shop owner the price. I guess it should cost near 1000RMB.

Rafen: If a group-buy might lessen the sting of ordering from an off-shore company, I'm willing to contribute
to pickup some modifiers--I just bought another 87UB in 45g. My penchant for Topre switches carries on...

I will let you know since that is very steep. I would rather put the money towards another Topre board if I was going to do that.

Its so addicting. I haven't been using my HHKB as much but the Realforce is still amazing to type on. Might end up putting the HHKB up for sale and getting another 55g.

I have to air this: I received my 45g Topre and it feels great! I missed the feel of this switch. But the 55g was too much for me. The 45g is heavier than Cherry's 45g MX Red, which really suits me--and addictive for those of us who prefer Topre to other key switches (+1 for me on this score). One cannot compare the two, only contrast them. I understand the force curves are different for these 45-gram switches. I can see why you sold your Cherry keyboards. I may have to get another 45g 87UB--for me, like the 55g for you, feels exceptional and is all one might ask for in key switch and keyboard. Also, my touch-typing accuracy has vastly improved, in this short time, with the 87UB. It's just the best for me.

The guy I sold my 55g to may not want to keep it. His first impression is that it was really heavy. I know he's a fan of HHKBs. If you want, you may be able to make trade with him. If you're interested, PM me and I'll give you the information.

We don't have to keep secrets... its me :)

And yes - it certainly is stiffer than my HHKB - but I'm not sure its a bad thing... I just can't say after 1 day if I would mod my HHKB (which actually was my original intention - but this keyboard is so beautiful - how could I do it to it! :P)

Anyways, I'll report back in a week which way I'm going to go... right now I have a tri-fecta... I have the HHKB Pro 2, the FC660C, and now the 55g RF 87U.  I really want to stick with 1 style keyboard if I can - because one things for sure.. going back and forth between layouts isn't efficient... you spend a lot of time adjusting.

And I got work to do  - ya know!  Just like I want to learn a new keyboard layout.. Colemak, or Minimak-12, but I just can sacrifice the time to drop 30 WPM on my QWERTY skills while I'm learning it.

Although it isn't all about WPM's is it?  Its about comfort - what you like.. that kind of thing. (not that I would mind typing 100WPM's on a board!)

Oh yeah... i have an ErgoDox kit coming tomorrow too.. now I have to find the time to build that... I've never soldered a diode in my life lol! (I'm a software guy - not a hardware one LOL)

Peace.

Avtar is selling a green set of mods here, and an orange full set. Just throwing it out there.

Like the late Jerry Garcia, you speak the truth. And I agree with you--it's not about WPM for me either; it's about key switches and keyboards that we enjoy using; and we shouldn't leave out the joy of experimenting with switches and boards. Good luck with the ErgoDox.
