Title: Suggestions for Mechanical Keyboard
Post by: Ragwolfe on Sat, 10 May 2014, 08:40:13
Does anyone have a recommendation for a keyboard less than £100 (~$165) which has Cherry MX Blue switches, blue or white backlight, and preferable at least one USB port? The cheaper the better!

Welcome to GH.

You might want to try and look around for answers to different things before posting new topics (tends to make people mad).

Anyhow, look at mechanicalkeyboards.com and see if you can find anything on there.

I was going to suggest a kb, but nvm, I didn't see that you wanted backlighting.  Anyway, look for a Ducky Shine 3 or Ducky Zero Shine or something - they are OK boards.

Is kb short for something, as it is not a manufacturer I've heard of before?

Keyboard. :p Was going to suggest a Filco Majestouch 2, but then I saw you wanted backlighting. Ducky's are pretty much the best stock keyboards you'll get with backlighting.

No problem. Figured I would let you know.

You might have problems finding boards with those usb ports. If you do without the usb port you will have a lot more options to choose from. Ducky makes some nice boards that will give you all the other features you want besides the usb port.

I will probably keep saving then, and get a ROCCAT Ryos MK Pro as it has everything I want :P

Hi Ragwolfe

My second mechanical keyboard is Cherry G80-3000 with cherry MX blues

Though it is huge and you may think it looks old
It is a very good board that has excellent typing experience and the switches are easy to mod
Can very much be a benchmark of typing experience :thumb:

I have been using this for quite a long time and i dont think i will ever resell it or so

I got it at a price of $77 during a GB but i guess it will only be a bit more expensive normally
should still be within your price range

If u dont need flashy appearance, it may be a good board to start off!

I don't think I have seen anyone on this forum talk about their boards. Might be a good opportunity for you to write a review.

I've never used one, but a Max Blackbird may be worth considering.
It has USB ports, backlighting, and there's an MX Blue model.
Here's the company's link: http://www.maxkeyboard.com/

Amazon also carries Max Blackbird keyboards.
