Title: Where to order springs for ergo-clears?
Post by: slickmamba on Tue, 20 May 2014, 02:38:04
So I plan to make some ergo-clears for either a poker II, or ergodox(not sure which one I want yet).  I am about to order some 55g from http://www.originativeco.com/collections/accessories/products/springs, but am not sure they are the same as the mx blue/red/browns.  62g is out of stock.

55g springs will be slightly lighter than reds/browns. If you go with that spring weight on new or new-ish clears you will probably want to lube the stems or you might end up with hanging/sticking problems. A lot of people (myself included) go with springs in the 62g-68g range to prevent issues with hanging.

Ahh, that is what I was worried about that these 55g were not the same as the reds/blues/browns.  I wanted to try out a tester with different springs but the one that was going around closed and I didn't get in.  I just don't know which to get 55, 62, 65, etc or where.  I was planning on lubing the springs regardless.

I would recommend sending Sherry (person who runs Originative store) a message using the contact area of his site asking when he'll get new stock of the 62g Limited springs. I would not recommend using 55g springs with Clears as even with lubed stems they may still "hang". 62g springs work even with unlubed stems (I am wearing in some Clears using these springs). I think it's worth paying a little more for the Limited sets as they will be a little more consistent.

ErgoClears FTW!

I actually asked him this same question about the limited springs recently and this was his response:

This product will not come back in stock.

I can't imagine that also applies to the normal 62g & 65g springs but it sounds like the "limited" springs were indeed very limited.

Hmm, don't know how 65g would be like.  I was looking for 60 or 62g.  How much would shipping from sweden be?
