I'm totally stealing this idea from another forum. Shoutouts to amberleadavis on FPN for this idea. The idea is that each day a subjective topic pertaining to keyboards is generated for some focused discussion.....or something like that. Let's see how it goes.
Today's prompt:
What is your test phrase when you sit down at a keyboard for the first time?
Maybe you're at a friend's place and you see a new shiny Realforce you've never tried. Or maybe you're at Microcenter, trying out a Razer Blackwidow 2014 with the funny switches. But I find most people have a little routine they do for testing out a new keyboard.
For some reason I always do "What's up, I'm Captain BadAss and I'm really into keyboards." as my first line. Then it might be some song lyrics or me just mashing keys to get a feel for them.

the cat in the hat ate a rat and never looked back.
-
I never really got into pangrams even though it made sense. Dunno why. Just never struck my fancy.
-
I don't have a test phrase but if I start hacking away at a random keyboard to see how it feels, it usually ends with me typing out a narration of myself typing on the keyboard.
... that sounds a lot weirder than I thought it would.
-
"Are you stupid or not, why are you doing these things" in Norwegian. Don't ask me why, but everytime I try a new keyboard I type that as fast as I can a couple of times. :P
-
Type that in Norwegian epzy. I wanna see.
-
You guys actually type special things when you get a new board??
I just use it to type whatever I'm currently working on.

I also hold left shift for capital letters when I do it: ER DU DUM ELLER IKKE HVORFOR GJØR DU SÅNNE TING ER DU DUM ELLER IKKE HVORFOR GJØR DU SÅNNE TING ER DU DUM ELLER IKKE HVORFOR GJØR DU SÅNNE TING.

"Just testing this out the see how it feels..." Then I will type out my first impressions of the board -- "the spacebar seems a little squeaky, maybe she needs some lube.......the feel of these keys are smoother than what I would have ecpected.....etc..."
That way I have a dynamic platform!
:D

I never thought about it but everytime I test out a keyboard I type "Hi. My name is Kagu and I'm typing on a mechanical keyboard! lol hur dur dur" and when I mistype something, I always press backspace from force of habit lol
-
Maybe I am egotistical. I type out my name a couple times because I know I can type it really fast >:]
-
"This is what a keyboard should feel like."

That or "Hello world."

This is the dawning of the age of Aquarius
No clue why, I have been using that for random typing for at least 30 years.

Guilty of this as well, I'm glad I'm not alone in doing it.
-
Pretty simple, my email address then me real address. A coworker once caught himself testing out my Realforce board with his password.

well you don't actually type pangrams taht much, so it makes sense to me.
I always do "sphinx of black quartz, judge my vow" just to test the keys, or just go down the rows.
-
"I am the greatest in the world."
-
"I need help"

Yeah but people use them to test out keyboards and pens so you can hit all the letters in the Alphabet. I suppose if I did, I'd use "Pack my box with five dozen liquor jugs."
-
Usually something like, "I wonder what this keyboard feels like to type on. Ah, I see, it feels a bit like my Ducky, but the space bar is softer.. " and it goes on until I am satisfied that I have a good sense of the board.

Backspacing is a must!

So will there be a new topic for today?
-
I usually write something obtuse such as, I'm going to smash this keyboard over my own face, and then die from bleeding, or I wonder what a lady would do if a keyboard got stuck inside of her holy grail
-
Well, I always type this sentence in my mother language:
"Le petit chat d'alice est mort, et alors ?"
-
I usually type out my thoughts on the keyboard. For example:
I wonder what it is like to type on this keyboard. It is not such a bad experiences and my first impression of the switches is pleasurable. But this short trial does not compare to the day after day reality of owning a keyboard. However, I really do enjoy typing on this keyboard. I also really enjoy keyboards as a whole. I think that I spend too much time and money on keyboards, and it sucks up time that I should be spending on more meaningful activities. But keyboards are meaningful to me. Back to the keyboard on hand. This thing does have a really solid feel.
And so on.
