Title: Quickfire TK's Windows/FN/Numpad0/Alt Keys
Post by: Kayla on Thu, 22 May 2014, 19:05:32
So I'm trying to outfit a blue switch TK but while keycap shopping I noticed that the alt keys are 1.25 control keys are 1.5 the windows and function and numpad 0 keys are 1.0 (I can replace numpad with arrows).. if I'm going to purchase, for example the bi-color set from vortex, how would I go about plugging those odd key sizes in without disrupting the gorgeous look of the keyset?

Edit: The space bar seems to be a different size too...?

you have a 'gamer' layout (not a real term) and you've unfortunately discovered why gamer boards are  bad :(

you CANNOT buy a set from vortex that will cover your board properly.  vortex DS PBT is moogle only.

more generally, you'll need BOTH a moogle (1.25x) and a tsangan (1.5x) set AND get a 1x winkey from somewhere (some tsangans include them, some don't) (you can also just use a blank key from the cursor block or numpad if you're agreeable with that).

most likely, you'll  never find a most produced set that has tsangan and moogle; you'll need to buy a GB keyset.  checkout sites like: techkeys.us, keypop.net

you're going to have a real hard time finding something for your spacebar.  your best bet is to check out ivan's GMK dolch GB when it becomes available (but this is abs and will be 2-3 months at the earliest) or find something in SP's inventory systen.

Thanks so much for the quick reply. I'l look into it; and in the mean time look into finding a tenkeyless board within my price range with regular key sizes. ; ;

You could always grab a DOLCH set from my groupbuy. It has everything to fit a TK properly though the spacebar will have small gap on each end.

I really would love to but I want something colorful because my current keyboard is dreary.. x3 I think the set is gorgeous though.
