Title: Dell Keyboard Model 101 GYIAT 101-102 Old Logo Is this rare? Made in the USA
Post by: zymotech on Thu, 22 May 2014, 19:40:57
I found this keyboard in my junky storage room and was curious if anyone knows the approximate value. I didn't see any on Ebay and the only info I found on Google was a You Tube video of a guy typing on one for 30 seconds.  Any info would be appreciated.  Thanks.

Pictures with a keycap pulled would be nice. But I think you have a Dell AT101 (http://deskthority.net/wiki/Dell_AT101). It's one of the most common vintage Alps keyboards available. Your keyboard may have Salmon Alps though which are a bit harder to find but not rare. I've paid about $20 for an AT101 in the past.

It's likely an AT101, but looks like this?  http://www.recycledgoods.com/product/17110-dell-at101-ps-2-keyboard-at101-gyum97sk-old-logo-dell

They're rarer than the Dells with the tilted E logo but I don't thing that will drive the price up much if any.

(Ignore the prices on recycledgoods.com, they're insanely inflated.)

Mine is not the AT101 as the sticker in the back has a different FCC ID GYIAT101-102 and the sticker reads "Model 101"  Also it reads "Made in the USA."  I cannot find any photos with that sticker or model number using Google.  I only found the one in the video on You Tube.  Could this model be exactly the same as the AT101 but then it was manufactured in Taiwan later.  Mine seems to be before the AT101.  Do I have to worry about pulling a keycap or do they pop off easily, as I would hate to screw up the keyboard.  Thanks for responding.

Again, it's probably just an AT101 variant, but it's hard to say unless I see pictures. Look at the link I provided before and there's a huge list of possible AT101s that your board could be.

Yes you can pull the keycaps off, just be careful to rock it left and right. Alps switches are a bit stuck on. Regardless, I don't think it's a rare goldmine you're hoping for.

The You Tube video description mentions it has pink ALPS.  Is that of any significance?

I should've mentioned that pink and salmon Alps are the same thing, just a different name of the color.

Your keyboard may have Salmon Alps though which are a bit harder to find but not rare.

I'm a bit slow, but now I see in the Wiki article the keyboard is mentioned as a variant.  Thanks so much for your time.  I appreciate it.

It would probably be helpful if you posted a link to the youtube video.
