Yeah I heard about this and then found out like a bunch of my friends have pirated it lol, serves them right really.

It's funny the number of people who refuse to support game x or y, but then pirate it... Way to send a message guys lol

The NFO scene quickly rectifies things like this, only the day 0 downloaders will be affected. It's hardly malicious anyway, sneaky, but harmless. All its doing is using some of your CPU power, which was most likely sitting excess anyway.

GPU power...  It maxes your GPU to 100%.. so most often crashing it if people were using certain bioses that had tighter power-current-locking

also.. when you run the game, if the game takes 80%, it will chew out the rest of the 20%.. and dramatically increase latency for certain gpu processes making the games unplayable.

The reason not EVERYONE gets the virus, is because it doesn't activate on lower end GPUs, because those can't mine effectively in the timeframe to upload.

i highly doubt you'd get thousands out of this

the effects of the virus is extremely apparent.. you'd almost instantly know something is wrong..

This is especially true of people who bought the high end gpu, which the hackers were targeting,  because those buyers would more likely know about their system..

So true.

i've yet to see game followings on private trackers.. mostly private caters to large bray isos.

You're on the wrong sites then.

I don't really see the point of pirating games when Steam exists. I wouldn't pirate movies and TV shows if it wasn't for the fact it's literally the only way to acquire them in a convenient format.

my point is.. private tracker is only worth it if you get the games sooner..   that rarely happens with games... and even if it does.. the size of game makes the download around 12hrs..    and it's usually 24hrs before that game ends up on public tracker..

So the advantage is nil'   ontop of that you have to face the seed time enforcement on private..

Games are always better gotten from public

I don't think any public site can match the selection, quality or speed of private trackers.  Especially dedicated game sites and not just your standard scene 0-day.  Seed time and ratio rules?  I honestly don't know how that can be a complaint unless a person is the type that likes to not seed back.

it is a complaint...    I can get 1:1 within a few hours..  but some sites enforce seeding for 72 hours..   it's not that I mind seeding..  if the computer i'm seeding from is Live that day, no problem..   but what if I'm running ratio somewhere else and need to shift gears..  the ratio rule prevents optimization on MY - SIDE..

I used to do competitively seeding.. so it is not that I mind seeding at all.. I just want to do it on MY TERMS....
