Let's try to break down how the costs might look in an item like this in a slightly plausible manner:

Actual manufacturing and distribution to retail costs: $30
Retail markup costs: $20
Licensing costs: $50
Profit to <brand name>: $100

Being able to sell utter crap to people that will buy anything based on branding alone: Priceless.
