Title: Which Model F color scheme do you like the most?

Post by: 1391406 on Sun, 01 June 2014, 15:10:13: I really like the look of black keys on the F myself, but I don't think Unicomp sells black modifier keys with a white font(on a different note I ordered the red font keyset from them). I'd have to harvest keycaps from an M13.

At first, it might look like the IBM original, but it is subtly different.

You might also want to take a look at using black alphas with lighter colored modifiers, and/or alternating colors on the F-key rows.

Otherwise, back to your three color schemes, I think my order of preference would be as follows:

C > A > B

You can't go wrong with a Model F. The sound and feel of the IBM buckling spring switches is so good, it almost doesn't matter what the board looks like.

As of now, Model M13 keycaps are the only option, but I wasn't suggesting Unicomp reintroduce pad printed versions.

Is that color scheme the result of your grandkids spending a weekend with you?

None of my Model Ms have matching keycaps anymore. If anything, kids (and kid fingers) are good at pulling up buckling spring caps, after which the keycap will disappear into one of the toy boxes or be swapped somewhere else, and I have long since given up tracking them so not one of my keyboards has all the keycaps in the same color.

Why have keys in different colors, if those colors don't mean something?
