Title: Decorative and Fancy knot work
Post by: Melvang on Mon, 02 June 2014, 07:33:44
Anyone here into decorative and or fancy knot work?

Here is a good site for some amazing work. A lot of it is centered around sailing and boats for the most part bu does some other stuff.  It gets just as expensive as this hobby when you get to this level.  Though simple stuff like monkey fist keychains and wraps on walking staves and canes isn't bad but gets expensive quick when yous start measuring lengths for work in feet rather than inches.

Ba da dum ssssss

Seriously I actually enjoy the art and learning new knots.  Still have yet to figure out the turks head with more than 3 bights.  Though I can do the 4 and 8 strand square sennit (round braid), moku, St. Marys, ring bolt hitchings, Monkey fist knot, along with a good working knowledge of practical knots.

Ahh, but do you have the Ashley book of knots?

Huge section on decorative uses, and possibly exhaustive for practical applications of conventional 3-strand line/rope.

Disappointed this wasn't a resource for bondage knots.
