Hey guys,
So here's an idea...
I'm relatively new to GH and in that short amount of time, I feel like I learned so much. And just when I think I know a lot about keyboards and modding, there are those here that just blow me away with their keen insight and engineering knowledge. I am interested in more than just forum posts, but perhaps a monthly skype get together or something. I'd be willing to host these meetings as well.
Is there any interest, nominations or volunteers from the most experienced members in participating in these meets? I will be honest I may have the most to gain :) because I'm working on this Kickstarter project and I could use some advice. I will be sure to contribute to the community as well.
Any interest?

Newbie myself but would love a weekly conference to sit in and possibly contribute to.
Skype is riddled with security issues. Some kind of Ventrilo/Mumble or whatever you kids use these days might be nicer imo.
-
They tried this for a little while but to many people want to talk trash about other people.
But there were some good interviews of a few members.
-
heh sure! I mainly wanted some video capabilities so we could show and tell, etc...
-
If you search for GH Podcast or geekhack podcast you'll find them.

Hmm.. was it moderated? Perhaps a bit of that would keep the trash talking to a minimum :)
Also, I guess I don't mind a oneway podcast, but I thought I would be nice to also be able to Q and A.

No it wasn't moderated. And I'd be interested in doing more....podcasts or whatever they end up being.

Okay well we have 1 - CPTBadAss :)

I can see an unmoderated voice conference going poorly very very quickly.
Would be nice to have 4 speakers or so and have them field questions from users, or discuss from a list of topics. Problem is you need personalities who are helpful, insightful, reliable, and who can work together without butting heads.
But how many times can we argue black vs blue before it gets old. (Clearly not enough hue hue hue)
-
I imagine we could field select set of questions. We would field the appropriate advisors, then we'd moderate the responses. We'd record them and we can post it somewhere...
-
I'd be up for it, if the timing works out where I'm free.

That's 2! :)
BTW - I'd need some kind of a short bio from each advisor. I'll send out a PM soon!
-
I'd be interested, again if I was available. I'm not perhaps as experienced as some of the other users, but I'm definitely willing to answer any questions I can.
-
+3 :)
-
I've been in one of the podcasts, too, was definitely fun and would do it again, main issue is time for me as I'm in Europe though. Could do a Europe variant too, depending on interest.
-
I would be up for it pending work. So, that most likely won't happen for me on a regular basis due to that schedule.
-
I am interrested if there is an europe version or something as bluebär mentioned.

I can definiteley organize something. Where are you from if I might ask?

Norway, so it should not be a problem with time zones :)

I guess what is possible is that you could have a Google Hangout, and people can ask questions through irc/google.

Could use twitch and its chat, too?

I vote on hangouts, but twich works too for me.

I can do a EU livestream next week (I offered this once before but there wasn't any interest) if there's more than 3 people who would want one (else it's not really worth the effort).
-
Sounds like fun. I'd be up for a Google hangout or group Skype call.

I'm in!

Does this thread belong in the keyboard forum? May it fit better in out of topic, or other similar sub-forum?

It's still related to keyboards and will maybe get a few more views here.

Media, especially if it is discussing restarting the podcasts.
-
Depending when it is, I'll be lurking around :D

It has better exposure here, for sure. I just hope mods do not move it.

I should be available for the next 3 nights. Not real sure how soon this might get off the ground.
-
Unless I'm busy, I'd love to listen in and maybe learn something.
-
Not sure how we want to do this but I have an idea. I've been getting into fountain pens. A retailer named GouletPens.com does Q&A videos (http://www.inknouveau.com/2014/05/goulet-q-episode-33-open-forum.html) which are really helpful. Each week they'll either open Q&As or a focus on a pen company or inks. We could do the same and do a Google Hangouts or Skype call or mumble. Do it live or pre-record it and distribute.

If you haven't seen it yet, here is the "official" new thread about this: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=59153.0 :thumb:

Yes! I think it should still be here! I'm especially interested in getting expert advice on variety of things including PCB sourcing and working with vendors like Signature Plastics.
I'm a little occupied right now but I'd love to see when this would go down! :)
I can also host this on ustream/ twitch
-
I'll look into the different options in terms of streaming. Twitch is an option but from a quick look Google Hangouts seems ideal.

There are a lot of us here with experience working with SP. I'd say go ahead and ask your questions in the thread...

Dear Board of Advisors!
So I admit when building my Qwerkywriter I hadn't thought through too much about the ISO layout.
So besides adding additional keycaps, what do you guys think is the most cost effective way of supporting the ISO layout, PCB/KEYCAP tooling...

SP has tooling for ISO keys. No idea on PCB though, maybe ask in the Making Stuff Together subforum?
