Title: Ullo - Small advice
Post by: iceman0bc on Mon, 02 June 2014, 13:50:55
Hey! Love this forum, sad I didn't find it earlier.

Quick question - I found a Vintage Dell AT101W ($30) and was thinking of buying it. Is it worth a buy? They are Black alps, but I just need a second opinion. I will only be using this keyboard for a year, after which I will construct my own ^^.

Thanks.

PS: Not sure if I am to post this here, sry admins.

$30 shipped is a good price is you're in the US. A bit high but I really like them. They're pretty easy to work on and they have great keycaps. The Dell AT101W got me into Alps stuff.

I've been warned against buying used 101Ws -- apparently the alps don't stand up to years of use very well.

If it's decently new and appears in good shape, go for it.

Alps switches are easy enough to open up and clean. They do tend to degenerate poorly. Especially the AT101W.

Where were you when I found one locally for $15?

Really regretting not getting it now :P
