Title: Illuminating individual keys
Post by: CaptCarrot on Mon, 02 June 2014, 18:36:18
OK, until this stuff (EL Paint (http://gizmodo.com/5991776/i-want-to-cover-every-single-wall-in-this-electroluminescent-paint)) becomes available, I am going to have to stay old school.

So I want to back light a keyboard (that I don't have yet - but I'm also on a budget)

I want to achieve a result where the symbols are illuminated, but there is no spill round the base of the keys - this knocks out EL wire and patches.

My idea is to place an LED inside each keycap.

On that note I have 2 questions

If I have Cherry's, can I just place an LED (correctly orientated) in them and expect them to work (or would they need extra wiring)?

If I don't have cherries, what would be the most effective way to wire up the LED's in each cap?

Cheers.
