Title: Looking for an 87 key Cherry MX Red

I’m looking for a keyboard and thought the lovely Geekhack guys might have some suggestions. =)

I’d like it to be/have the following:

• 87 keys
• Cherry MX Red
• No backlight
• Black case
• Keycaps don’t matter as I’ll be getting custom ones. It can even be barebones.

I’ve found a few myself, but I’m sure I’m missing some:

• Filco Majestouch-2 and Filco Ninja Majestouch-2
• WASD V2 87-Key Barebones and WASD V2 87-Key Custom
• KUL ES-87
• Ducky DK9087G2 PRO and Ducky Zero DK2087
• Vortex KBT ONI
• QFR and QF Stealth
• KEYCOOL (Black version) 87Key

Welcome to Geekhack!

Sounds like you don't mind buying from overseas as there are bugger all keyboard in Australia.

Filco is good, but you will pay a bit more and also have a non-detachable cable (which is not an issue for some people, but can hamper portability if you intend carrying the keyboard around with you).

Ducky is also good, and actually I didn't know there was a TKL version of the G2 Pro!

And lastly you can't go wrong with a QFR or QFS - both are great, solid keyboards, and probably the best bang for buck (although many people do not like the legends on the key caps, and thus figure in a replacement set of keycaps too).

keycool 87 if you consider a low budget on it.

There's also the Flashget G600: http://www.banggood.com/Flashget-G600-Wired-Mechanical-Keyboard-Cherry-MX-Red-Switch-p-79412.html

But it has a silver aluminium case, not black. There are a couple of others on Banggood, the PLU ML 87 and DARE-U LBOTS which have black cases, but they only seem to come with MX Black switches, not Reds.

I'd probably just get a QFR, to be honest. Standard case, standard layout, good quality.

QFR or Filco IMO. If you decide on a QFR, wait for one to go on sale, or look to buy one on the after market here on the classifieds or other places where mechs are sold. The retail prices on QFRs are always higher than what you can get rather easily elsewhere.
