Title: Need Some Input
Post by: Keyguy76 on Thu, 05 June 2014, 22:40:32
Hello there, just made this account to get an opinion (or help?) on a decision. I'm looking at getting another Model M and on clickykeyboards they've got a couple that I'm interested in.

A 1991 IBM made 1394540

and

A 1992 IBM made 51G8572

My question is what are the differences between the two? As far as I know the 51G8572 has drainage channels while the 1394540 does not. Are there any other differences that I should know about or any other factors that makes one superior to the other?

Thanks in advance.

They're pretty much identical according to the DT wiki:

51G8572

Effectively the same as the 1394540. The 51G8572 seems to have been produced for longer, and some later examples from 1995 onwards finally switched over to the blue IBM logo used on other Enhanced Keyboards.
