Title: I Hope I Will Be Doing the Right Thing, Cooler Master
Post by: deazncy on Sat, 07 June 2014, 04:50:23
Dang, I miss Topre switches. I remember when I sold my fc660c I felt this.. void inside me. I'm running a yellow edition ducky shine 3 with reds atm and I thought I was finally done with the kb game, but I heard CM will be releasing their new Novatouch keyboard in the near future.

Now, what this means is that I will have to sell my shine 3 in order to purchase the Novatouch (I don't want the shine to gather dust like my pokerX). I'm just really hoping that CM's take on electro-capacitive switches matches that of Topre (the fc660c felt amazing).

I hope I will never have to buy another keyboard again after this; I'm counting on you, Cooler Master.

Topre feels identical to rubber dome keyboards..

Because most people grow up on rubber dome boards, they are naturally tuned to Topre switches..

As for Coolermaster's TAKE...  how hard is it to make rubber domes...  considering we already HAVE rubberdomes...

SEriously...  What are you expecting...   It's m0re of the same thing we've had since childhood..

Not a bad thing...   I'm just confused as to why you're hoping for Change when it's Familiarity that generally convinces people to stay on Topre..

I just got a Realforce 45g (101) and I have dell rubber domes at work. They are nowhere near similar in feel.

I just want to know if they will be compatible with PCBs created for Cherry MX switches. I'd love to try topre, but I won't risk the conflict of liking it and not being able to put it on my ErgoDox.

...

It should since it says "Topre" on the Novatouch PCB: http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=56838.msg1286708#msg1286708

Its a topre PCB with topre springs and domes just like other tore boards, the only difference seems to be the plunger which has been made compatible with MX caps and the stabilizers.

Ah, I was led to believe that CM would manufacture everything from the pcb to the springs to domes. This makes me happy :)
