We all know Razer.
But if you look at the Poseidon Z they say "Tt certified mechanical switches".
If you look at others they either say "certified mechanical switches" or "company name certified mechanical switches".
Does any company actually list their switches as being "Kailh mechanical switches"?
-
You might get banned if you stuffed these into a KMAC or GON.
-
Because of gimmick i think, most company didn't listed "Kailh" as the name of their switch
Sometimes they just write Blue Switch, Red Switch, etc
also in chinese they only use
黑轴 - Black Shaft
棕轴 - Brown Shaft
etc

It may also apply to certain movie sites you visit :thumb: .

I think those are Chinese people in the promotions department who speak bad English or want you to think they speak bad English.
I also think it is a very bad habit to adopt. If this were teh 90's Microsoft might decide they want to take over the mech market and invent their own Cherry clones ( just different enough to avoid patent infringment ) with similar shapped stems but totally different colors. If the descriptions read Blue switch does that mean Cherry Blue or Microsoft Blue ( which is like a Cherry Black ). I think it's better if manufacturers use similar colors for switches.

I LIKE the kailh switches more than cherry.
I've been super tempted to get some 'razer greens' and throw some 80g springs in them and put them in a poker. thats a near perfect switch to me.
the actuation points on them are perfect, I like the color, and I don't see anything bad about them.

Will you still like them 6 months from now?

I really wish they'd make cherry switches that actuated @ the .83mm like sanwa arcade buttons..
would be sweet......
I know Germans won't do it.. but maybe kailh might... though it'd require pretty high tolerance on parts to hit that using the slider method..

Cherry is a german companie but I bet they already have some factories in China ...

More to the point, will they still work 6 months from now?

I really think the new versions should be fine. They keep getting hit over the original yellow ones which have pics out of broken stems, but I've never seen anything else about them; such as failure to actuate. Nor have I seen anything bad about the new ones other than they aren't cherry official, everyone who's posted about having bought the new razer seems to like them fine.
-
Yup, aside from an old picture of one switch thats been going around, there is not any recorded records of any of the newer switches breaking. So the idea that they will break is a pretty ignorant statement to make.

Anything more? Hint if the stems are broken then they will fail to actuate.
As for the word of people who bought a Razer keyboard, you do realize that you are trusting the judgement of someone who bought a Razer keyboard?

Nope they are all made in Germany
All original CHERRY MX-switches are made in Auerbach, Germany in a fully automated manufacturing process.

I can say from my experience of owning a Zalman K500 for 9 months or so everything works fine, not had a single problem also I do actually like the switch but more down to the fact its a cross between a red and black, otherwise not had a problem with stems breaking or anything of that nature.

I might be the minority but when I tried the new Razer green on demo shelf and I agree it actually......... feel better !
Now if the Kailh red is like you said feels between red and black then I might want to try it. I always find red too light black too heavy.
As for reliability, only time will tell lol.

Tesoro durangal(spelling?)
Uses kailh on the new versions with rgb( I think)

More to the point, will they still work 6, 16, or even 26 years from now? Will future generations of geekhackers look for high-quality #vintage keyboards w/ Kailh switches, like we do with Cherry Corp. products? Or will it end like this...

we are using Kailh switches currently on our MODA keyboards. Im using a brown key one as i am typing this right now. TBH kailh and cherry feels pretty similiar, there may be a little slight difference in actuation force but overall they both work well.

No, it doesn't mean that at all. If the stem is broken then it can't hold a keycap properly, it would still function just fine. From the pic, someone broke the stem when they removed the cap. What's left would still work.

Oh man... I used to have a NAMCO joystick with sanwa parts, I loved that damn thing. I'd be a huge fan of kailh if they actually came out with a switch that felt like sanwa arcade buttons.
-
It may be easier to request Sanwa to make Cherry compatible switches. More legit.

Sanwas are great!
