Title: G80-3700 has switched itself to mode 3 and won't switch back
Post by: GeorgeK on Tue, 10 June 2014, 11:22:42
In case you're unsure as to what Mode 3 is it means that it'll only type !@#$% instead of 12345 (http://deskthority.net/wiki/Cherry_G80-3700)

It's connected to my PC through an adapter but even when I plug it straight into a PS2 port on another computer it still doesn't work (I'm following the instructions on the deskthority wiki page I linked to - Num Lock, 1, Enter)

Has anyone come across this before?  How do you fix it?

Thanks in advance

GK

Managed to sort it :D I wasn't holding down both Num Lock and 1 before pressing enter... Just in case anyone else needs this in the future - hold down both Num Lock and 1, then press and release Enter before releasing the other two.

Edit:  This was also not in a PS2 port but through one of mkawa's magic PS2-USB converters :D

From the wiki, I would assume:

Press Num Lock
Press 1
Release 1
Press Enter
Release Enter
Release Num Lock

From what you're saying, it is:

Press Num Lock
Press 1
Press Enter
Release Enter
Release 1
Release Num Lock

Is that correct?

Pretty much yeah - you need to have both Num Lock and 1 held down before pressing enter :)  That's what was confusing me...

I've verified this with the manual and updated the wiki page accordingly.
