CptBadAss and I have been talking to rainbow about powdercoating AT-F, XT-F, 122s and kishsaver cases. Basically any metal IBM case. They have been super cool about it and will blast then paint every case in a different color if we want. Cost is going to hover around 100$ per case (top and bottom). Logistics will be as follows:
You purchase the powdercoating service on geekhackers.org, specifying the color you want at order time. You can choose from the colors we have in our box, or most RAL color codes (these are stocked at rainbow)
You take apart your keyboard and ship me the case
I label every case with the color requested
I ship the labeled batch to Rainbow and I pay them (I will cover this shipping)
They blast, paint and ship the batch back to me (I will cover this shipping)
I ship your case back to you (You will cover most of this shipping -- whatever geekhackers charges you, which is usually slightly under actual cost for heavy items)
what is cool about this:
model Fs in whatever freaking color you want
DID YOU HEAR ME??@!?!? WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT?!?!

Interesting....would be a good addition to my soon to come f122
-
FYI, F-122 housing is plastic except for the back...
-
XT-F are all metal?
-
Does it have to be an IBM? I have some other aluminum cases that I might want to powder coat.
-
my XT-F is all metal
the other cases will depend entirely on whether they can be hung. we know IBMs can be hung on a powder rack, so i'd prefer to keep it to those. also, blasting steel is entirely different from blasting aluminum.
actually, scratch aluminum entirely. this is for steel powdercoating.

OK, thanks.

A blue back would still look good.

What's the pn of your xt? I've had 4 xt's before and none had metal tops, would like to see which one yours is

doesn't look like there's enough interest to make a dent in costs, honestly. rainbow is always happy to do one-offs. contact me if you need contact information for them
