Oh I guess I must have one of those fancy add-ons or extensions installed for it :D

You can also Middle-Click an already open program in you task bar and it'll open a new window of that program :)

Unless they are those fancy non-standard links that hijack you into a popup window or force you to open in the current tab. Those make me fly into a blind rage.
tp, have you ever used linux regularly? Select + middle mouse to copy/paste is pretty much the best thing ever.

I scroll with middle click because the speed is easier to control

I use it all the time when browsing the web, but literally never thought of using it on the desktop... life, changed.

I do the same :D

Ctrl + W you mouse wielding plebs

AND ctrl + t opens new tab.
ctrl + shift + n... ahem...

I think Middle click has the advantage ... because Ctrl+W only works if the very next tab will be the one you want..
Usually I 'd have at least 5 tabs, up to 10 maximum... So the very next tab after Ctrl+W isn't likely to be the one I'm after.. So I'd have to move the mouse ANYWAY.. to get to the one I want..
If I move the mouse ahead of time to the tab section, then that sets me up for smooth transition combo of middle click, move then left click..

Middle Clicking is one of the signs of the apocalypse.

Actually I think it opens a new instance in the apps I've tested it with, but in some apps doing so is a new window. Neat shortcut I also stumbled upon recently since installing W8.
There was a similar thread on another forum recently, where I posted a long-ish list of tips ^-^ If this were an Opera browser thread though it would be virtually endless :))

Middle-clicking empty space on my Firefox tab bar re-opens previously closed tabs. I think its Tab Mix Plus enabling that feature.

Its so stupid...so many times I've accidentally closed a youtube vid

Dude, I changed my "sniper" button on my mouse to middle click.
It's just THAT useful.

I prefer Double Click to Reload (also, ever see this one? https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/text-link/h ). That is, until I learned of VimFx, where I can just press r... and x to close, and X to reopen.
But for you out there who don't know:
Ctrl+r - reload
Ctrl+shift+r - reload cache
Ctrl+t - new tab
Ctrl+shift+t - reopen closed tab
Ctrl+w - close tab
Ctrl+l - focus on address bar
Ctrl+k - focus on search bar
Ctrl+tab and Ctrl+shift+tab - move in between tabs
-
I also do this in Firefox: go to about:config, and modify this mousewheel.with_control.action to 1. This allows to hold the Ctrl key while scrolling which allows you to scroll without zooming in or out. Then Ctrl + - and + to scroll in or out.

I tend to ctrl-click for opening links in new tabs.
-
My firefox knows when I'm done fapping, and closes all tabs automatically.

I knew that but I didn't know about closing tabs too.

Yes, yes it is. Highlight some text = copy, middle mouse = click. Nice for some quick edits without grabbing the keyboard.

...or just 'x'. Meet VimFX (https://github.com/akhodakivskiy/VimFx).
Seriously though, how is this news? O.o
