Title: Lost a dome [FOUND]
Post by: jmolino on Wed, 18 June 2014, 00:53:14
While working on one of my Topre boards, I misplaced a single dome. Maybe it will show up, but I already searched around my desk for an hour....anyways... I would greatly appreciate if somebody has an extra dome  from a spare parts board and would be willing to part with 1..... please let me know if you can help!

Thanks!

You know, I didn't even think about that.... maybe that is insensitive to make a play on that word... I don't want to offend anyone, so maybe I can change the subject to "dome" instead... not sure though...

All set...

I never would have even thought about the "like typing on a cloud of ...." thing until I came to GH.  wonder whoever came up with that thing anyways...

I did the same thing when I was installing an Mx Slider in my HHKB.

When I was screwing it back together after installing the slider I noticed a spring on my desk - I'm glad I didn't lose it.

Wish I could help.

No no, its nothing... just late night joking around and not thinking things through before pressing "Post".  But seriously I can only imagine how difficult that must be to go through...no health issues are fun  - but then there are the ones that really shake you up by their nature...those are the toughest....breast cancer is just one of those and God bless you and anyone that has to go through that.  Certainly it isn't anything to joke about.

Yea I think maybe my daughter (4 yrs/old) or son (2) was playing around by my desk when I was away and maybe decided that those things looked interesting enough to play with;  I'll see about it in the morning, but I'm sure I won't get a straight answer... (and my son probably wouldn't even remember anyways)....I can't see how I could have misplaced one....frustrating!

... I'm a guy :D

Just aware of this because of Xeni Jardin who blogged/tweeted quite publicly about her ordeal with breast cancer - http://boingboing.net/author/xeni_jardin

Anyway I don't think you meant to be offensive or anything to start with..

Let's get back to more pressing issues - your missing rubber dome!

Speaking of which

I once had a couple of old alps switches that didn't work in an old Apple keyboard. I posted a Looking For thread in the classifieds offering to buy it off people and found what I wanted.

Maybe you can do something similar?

Ah - only problem is I can't post there yet. I've not been a member long enough to meet the criteria to post. :/

Think it's limited by post count! Once you get past a certain post count you can start posting there (it's not limited by age of your account I believe)

Sometimes one dome (and/or spring to) can hide inside another, this can be very deceptive and I have thought I lost one in the past and found it in plain sight hiding. Also I have had domes/springs hide inside the realforce box which I was using to prop up the board to reassemble.

Indeed I have noticed this.  I'm still looking around... it doesn't appear to be hiding in another dome (even disassembled the other keyboard I was modd'ing to check there too!).... grrr.  how frustrating.
