Sucks, but did you try... contacting mimic cables directly rather than posting on their public discussion?

You should contact Mimic directly before posting a thread.
Ouch, sorry to see that Z16B
PM me and I'll make you a proper "angled connector", costs on me.
I can finish it today, and mail it Thursday for DHL express delivery on Friday. :thumb:
..fankly that looks like something soldered by someone holding a soldering iron for the first time.
I have doubts about the authenticity of this cable as coming from Mimic.

I don't see any soldering in that picture?

I think the OP received this cable:Show Image(http://i.imgur.com/vCLzAvY.jpg)
It's under "today's work", and the image in OP also shows a bit of lettering on the HS.
Looks like globs of solder on my screen and some melted/damaged housing. Maybe it's just glue giving it that appearance.

The housing is a bit damaged and I think what you mean is just some molten shrink tubing that became glossy after melting and cooling down again. The tube gets put around the wires and the sleeve after soldering so that being solder is unlikely. That means it's probably still functional but the tube was heated too long or too hot (not an expert though).

Sure did. They said they were sorry that I felt the cable looked terrible, but that they had to glue it like that to prevent it from failing.
Ouch, sorry to see that Z16B

Express delivery as well?
This guy knows how to run a business. ;D
I'll just address everything here at once:
Perhaps I should have put a little more show with my earlier tell, but to me;
ugly glue reinforced right angle jointMoreis better than the (admittedly) aesthetically more pleasing, but less durable join seen hereShow Image(http://i.imgur.com/vCLzAvY.jpg)MoreShow Image(https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5113/14474417333_73fa8871a7_b.jpg)
And that's because unlike zeal, who's only seeking to serve his own gain(by the way, he already has a replacement in the mail thanks), I warranty both for life and accidental wear and tear. Meaning that I try to aim for a cable that will last more than 30 seconds, especially with a known weak point like the right angle mini/micro connector.
That all being said, I also explained that I would (and did) replace it if he wished with a cable like the second one pictured.

Have you tried enlarging the hole slightly with a file? I had some luck with that on a small connector.
It appears that we might want to source some better right angle housings then.
Maybe we could 3D print some housings that would accommodate for braided cables with heatshrink.
If the housings are good enough, heatshrink might not even be required.
I don't feel like starting drama here, but I'd just like to point out a few parts:
- At least use non-lettered heatshrink if they're going to show. Everyone knows lettered heatshrink is not aesthetically pleasing to look at.
- I'm not gaining anything. It's just the right thing to do after reading Dyslexic's reply. Why settle with an unsatisfied customer? Get things right the first time.
- If my cables only lasted 30 seconds, I wouldn't still be here. :p
Both of us have our ways of making cables, reinforcing weak points, etc. I won't comment on your way of making cables, as I've never had one in possession, and I'm sure you haven't either.
I’m trying to contact MiMic, but he doesn’t answer. His last posting is from march. Anyway know where he’s gone?
