Not sure what this is -- probably a rubber dome -- but it's $15 shipped.

what's more the SDL cable that IBM uses on these is usually got 2 more pins than it needs and therefore won't work on an M.
There's a chance this cable will work with an M, as it's SDL and not for a KB with a trackpoint, but I bet it'll be compatible with the other keyboard in the line and therefore not M compatible.
We have the version with trackpoint at my old work. Domes for sure.

got it, I wish it is a SDL keybaord and I'll buy it without thinking...

I have a feeling IBM called this an Mx for some unusual value of x (so you have the well known M2, M13, M4 - this is another in the list) and is rubber domes. So depending on how pedantic you want to be you can call it a Model M.

It is SDL. It has an SDL to PS/2 connector, it just won't fit in a model M.
ed_avis, I believe IBM used different nomenclature for their POS boards. I have one or two dome Ms that are still Ms (what with the membrane) and all, but IIRC they called these something else. I can check if you like.

Here's an IBM M9: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/IBM-92F6271-M9-116-KEY-POINT-OF-SALE-RETAIL-KEYBOARD-/370529654084
Rubber dome as far as I know.
