I broke one cleaning a board :'( and a few others don't feel right even after cleaned.
I feel like it's a long shot but does anyone have a few switches sitting around or ready to be salvaged?
For reference, these are the ones I'm looking for:

(The top ones, black/black).
Please MESSAGE me if you have any for sale. I will be looking for these indefinitely until I obtain them - as long as you are reading this I still need them!

Sorry to piggyback your thread - if anyone does have a box of these, I wouldn't mind a few.
My NEC APC-H4100E is missing one switch - I rescued the keyboard from under someone's desk at work. He had been using it as a foot rest, and kicked the left arrow key (and switch) off.

No worries! Hopefully someone could help us both out.

I suspect the best hope of finding one is a Goodwill find, or dumpster, perhaps :(
I was considering soldering in a MX blue switch, not sure if the pins are in the same position, but it would feel different. And different keycap too. So I canned that idea.
-
Yea, the best I've gotten from my local thrift stores was a crappy at101w with a rusty/rotten plate in almost a year of rummaging. Chance of NECs based on my luck is zero.
I'm not sure as I've not desoldered any of these NEC switches yet, but they do sure look like some of the vintage ALPS from the old T3xxx and T5xxx series Toshiba laptops:

Maybe even the more recent ALPS mount might have the same pin pattern? Not sure. Luckily my switches still register, even though broken, so I'll just swap the one I broke ones to PrintScr / Scroll Lock / Pause. Still would be nice to have a 100% keyboard!

Anyone :'(

I've yet to even get one of those. From the descriptions it's something I'd like.
Unfortunately they seem harder to get than even something like blue montereys.

Found this pic (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=25015.msg580004#msg580004) of a broken switch.
IIRC the pins are not compatible with an MX switch.
What about Alps? Might fit ...
-
With that picture it looks to me more like the pins are much farther apart from each other than they are on alps.

If you guys are looking to find new switches why not buy any of these (because there are heaps available);

So what's the problem about finding spare switches then ::) ?
-
$70+ for a keyboard to rip parts from? If they ship to Australia, shipping cost would approximately double the price.
-
I think for that price I'd just buy 2 to 3 working keyboards in good condition.
-
Because I wouldn't spend 100+ on something in crap condition that I've never used before?
-
Bump!

Bump.

You've probably got a long wait. It would probably take someone finding 2 that are damaged and are able to repair one with parts left over.

Or someone else wanting a few switches or more, and being prepared to buy one of the keyboards that are out there and split the proceeds.
