Title: About sip socket installation
Post by: Ronnn on Sun, 22 June 2014, 16:46:34
I want to use sip sockets so that I can swap leds easily, however, after reading some guides, I found most of them recommending taking the black plastic off, and I did. But soon after that I found that the leds would not sit tight in the sockets. How do I make them fit tight in the sockets so they wouldn't fall out easily?

put it on a LED and then solder it

I didn't remove the plastic. I just filed the outside of the black plastic housings down until I could force them to fit in into the properly. The LEDs fit fine.

I didn't do this and the LEDs still fit, but it was hard for some. I wish I had thought to clip and then install the LEDs before soldering as it would have made it a lot easier.

If you properly reinstall the top half of the switch, it can't move a whole lot.

Thanks for responses! I just found that I didn't apply enough force to insert the leds...that's why it is not tight.
