Title: Alternatives to the teensy as a controller
Post by: adventurepoop on Sun, 22 June 2014, 18:51:55
Ive been looking for a cheaper alternative to the teensy, preferably something cheaper. The only thing ive found was this http://www.pololu.com/product/3101 (http://www.pololu.com/product/3101), which at 13$ isnt that bad of a price. Does anybody know if there would be any problems getting this to work with soarers controller? Are there other cheap teensy alternatives that I should know about?

Saw this in one of those links, any reason it would not work?? Would I have to do anything to it to get it to function like a teensy??

seemingly not, it looks like you can just solder the usb to respective pins with 2 resistors and it'll work.

Regardless of price, I really want Hasu's thing. It's just about perfect: mounting holes (mainly), PS/2 socket etc etc.

Be careful with that breakout board. It's literally just the chip sodlered onto the board. There's no crystal, or voltage regulators or anything. I'm not sure, but I think you'll need more to get it working than just a USB cable and pull resistors.

looking at the below, I think you'll end up spending more in associated hardware to get it working:
