Title: G80-3497 Plate question
Post by: Capitalistix on Wed, 25 June 2014, 10:09:18
Hey y'all,
I have a cherry g80-3497 with mx clears and I love it. What I don't love is that its super flex. I. Wondering if I get a g80-3000 plate, can I just install it no fuss no muss? What all is involved? I'm assuming ill need to decoder the switches to get it on? If so, would that be a good time to change the springs? I love modifying stuff and would love to put some stiffer 62g Korean springs in there and see how they feel. Anyways, any help/info on this topic would be greatly appreciated! Ive never really modded an mx board before at all.

Step 1) Get a plate to fit the G80-3000. Not sure if they have dimensions different from the 104 plate that jdcarpe is working out
Step 2) Desolder all the switches
Step 3) Swap spring into switches
Step 4) Put switches onto plate
Step 5) Solder switches into place
Step 6) Test and troubleshoot any issues
Step 7) Enjoy your keyboard :D

It's tedious but fairly easy.
