Hello,
I've recently modded my poker 2 plate to allow for the switches to be opened without desoldering (as per http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=53722.0 (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=53722.0)).
It works fine, but when I remove keycaps from the switches, it ends up pulling the top half of the switch off along with it.
Do other people have this problem with PCB mounted switches/group buy plates that had cutouts made?
Thanks.

Let me guess, you are using Signature Plastics DSA-profile keycaps on MX Clear stems?
Just try to wiggle the keycaps off, rather than pulling them straight off. You should be using a wire keypuller to accomplish this.

Nope, I'm actually using white blank PBT banggood keycaps, but it's not isolated to them. I've tested with the stock Poker 2 PBT keycaps and it's the same result. Although, there are less switches that pop off using the poker keycaps.
Is this a common issue with clear stems? I've also tried to wiggle them off, but wiggling appears to make the switches pop off even quicker than pulling them straight out with a medium constant force.

Yeah, it's a known issue with clear stems. It's compounded any time you use keycaps that are tight on the stems anyway.

Is there a remedy for this situation? Also, is the housing of the clear switches that is the problem? Or is it that clear stems are thicker than other stems?

clear stems are bigger. No remedy, filing it down is probally the only thing you can do but you may screw it up easily

Damn haha. Right now I just have my keycaps pushed in half way so I can take them off without pulling the whole top off.
Other people who have ergo-clears/clears, is this what you do? Or do most people just push them in all the way, and physically pry each switch top off of the keycaps when they need to remove their keycap?

I just yank, and maybe 1 out of 10 will go out, and when that happens, I put it back on

Both my stainless plates with clears have this issue if I just straight yank on the key caps (also using banggood pbt). If I wiggle the cap off using a wire key puller it might happen 1-2 times out of ~90 switches.

Ah I see. I'll try wiggling with less force, otherwise I'll just keep my caps pushed in half way.
Thanks for letting me know that other's have this problem! Thought it was the way I modded my plate. :P
