A local e-cycler has this in the shop and is hesitant to sell it to me. Is it worth offering for? They have a lot of vintage stuff (not many keyboards) that they collect for a personal collection, but I spotted this thing and would like to add it to my collection.
Does anyone know what it is or if it is worth going after? The F1 and F2 keys wobble heavily (possible pcb damage), and the owner would not let me pull a key to look at the pcb/switches. Some of the keys have a pleasant light click while some near the home keys are noticeably spongy feeling (probably very dirty).
It is also very yellowed and dirty with stickers all over.
Sorry for the blurry photos, I was sneaking them.

Looks a lot like some old Topre I've seen before.

I would guess fujitsu leaf springs.
I don't know of any fujitsu topre boards. Compare (keycap shape and font) with this Fujitsu n860 that HaaTa has

I also guess it’s these switches http://deskthority.net/wiki/Fujitsu_Leaf_Spring
I love all the extra thumb keys.
I don’t see many 80s Japanese keyboards on ebay. No idea what they’re worth here (or in Japan).

Hmm, from those descriptions, it sounds like 2nd or 3rd gen due to the spherical caps. Might even be the clicky 3rd gen as some of the keys had a distinct light click.
I will keep asking to buy it until he breaks. :thumb:

Wait. Are they linear with a very faint click?
Could be fujitsu reed switch:

First gen also is spherical, but I don't think its' that's 'cause first gen is super rare.

Yeah, linear with a very light click as the key bottoms out.

almost certainly not reed then. Reeds click at actuation (of course).
-
Clicky leaf springs provide a bit of tactility as well, unlike reeds. So if you feel a slight tactile point before bottoming out, then it's clicky leaf spring.

...
I don't know of any fujitsu topre boards. ...
PFU is a Fujitsu company, so technically the HHKB Pro 2 is made by Fujitsu.
Then there's this: http://deskthority.net/photos-f62/fujitsu-axess-mcr-t1315.html
This board is more likely to be leaf spring, though.
-
So I stumbled upon this keyboard and I'm wondering if I should get it. Did someone find out if these actually come with clicky fujitsu leaf spring switches or magnetic reed switches?

These board are almost certainly too new to come with Fujitsu Magnetic Reed switches, so I would say they are most likely Fujitsu Leafspring.
You can read more about these board in here (https://kiyoto-y.github.io/fkb_stock.htm) (use Google translate)
