Title: 4 unit space bar group buy confusion
Post by: jond_keyhack on Wed, 09 July 2014, 08:00:13
Can you specify unit length of specific keys in group buys such as a 4 unit SA from signature plastics. If so how do you do it?

I really need this space bar. It is only available in SA from Signature plastics and currently they have none in stock unless some are ordered through a group buy.

The only thing is I have never really seen space bars being sold thorugh group buys or specific keys where you can specify the unit length for example ISO enter keys just come as standard although signature plastics specify many shapes.

You could start a Group Buy, but I'm not aware of any boards that use 4x caps so I don't think you'll get many people ordering. Still, if you can either get 25 people to order or you don't mind paying for 25 yourself, start a Pimp My Keyboard Group Buy.

I think I might glue some stems on a ducky 6 unit size at the support stems either side. So chopping off the stems either side on a 6 unit bar. Then I would probably have to desolder and just remove those keys as the base would get pressed.

I don't think there i smuch point in making a group buy for a 4 unit bar because who is going to want a 4 unit bar. The only keyboard that fits a four unit spacebar is a tipro.

How long do you think it would take to get an order in. I might just fork out $100 that signature plastics are asking for. Aren't there other companies that have the four unit mold that can mold specific sized keys for a moderate price  :(

I also have to say that your green tea group buy looks awesome - how did you get cups of tea on there?
