Title: Triad Keyboard
Post by: 1391406 on Wed, 09 July 2014, 21:09:33
Does anyone know anything about this (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Triad-Keyboard-1013482-01-/161361659485?&_trksid=p2056016.m2518.l4276/) Triad Keyboard? I'm not crazy about the layout, but it looks pretty cool, in my opinion. Looks like an RJ45 connector, but not sure.

EDIT: Fixed the link

Link just points to www.ebay.com.  Need more information.   :p

Edit: Looks nice, I agree!

Did some research on them after stumbling across a pair on eBay.  It should be MX or MX compatible, but don't take that as gospel truth(see this thread (http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=39233.0)).  The caps look Tai Hao to me.

I think it's SP.

agreed. It looks a lot like the WY-85 / gate array terminals, which had keycaps produced by comptec. SP got their moulds from them.

anyway, someone got the first one. I bought the re-listed one ($3 less). I expect the seller has more. Be on the lookout.

Some are identical keyboards to the wyse 85 gate array with different colors and MX... but others look identical in EVERY way including replicating SP font in pad print but are really low grade rubberdomes. It's VERY difficult to tell in photos so be careful!

Is that an RJ45 in the pics for the Triad, though? Can it be brought to life?

So who bought this, and what is it after all? Keycaps definitely look WYSE-ish.

I suspect it'll work with a soarer.

I did; we'll see; I agree, that's why I got it. looks like wyse/link/etc.

I'm hoping for no domes, but as I said, we'll see.

No idea who got the first one. mine was cheaper and on sale.

edit: WYSE-branded chip on the PCB; domes.

There was also a cherry-made one with a beige colourway

For smaller keyboards you could use Shapeways to get a ceramic keyboard. I'm not sure if you could do so with a full 104 keyboard as you need to fit the case in their bounding box for ceramic of:

 340 × 240 × 170 mm and X + Y + Z ≤ 400 mm

Wrong thread, sorry.
