I'm rather confused as to which version I should get. As far as I know, there is a korean version and a japanese version? Not too sure about this. But I also know there is a 55g and a 45g model? Can someone clarify or shed some light on the different variations? I'm completely overwhelmed.

Take a look at these:
87U English/Korean 55g review http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?t=5658
No one has done a review of the English only 87U 45g version but take a look at this http://geekhack.org/showthread.php?t=5661
And if you really want to know what it is you are buying take a look at this http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?t=5697
Also it was just announced that elitekeyboards will start selling both the Black and white version of the 87U this weekend so now you can get them local. If you want the 55g version though you will have to go through ebay for now.

To quote ozar from the 55g review thread regarding typing on both the 45g and 55g models:
"The difference is noticeable immediately after switching, but after a day or two, it is no longer noticeable, at least for me that is so. I'm fine with either, the all 45g, or the all 55g keys. I don't think I'd want to have an all 30g, or all 35g board, though."
The 55g is a Korean only model, though EliteKeyboards may carry it later this year. The version elitekeyboards sells has 3 distributed weights; a mix of 45g and 30g (55g for Esc). Prices for these models are up on EliteKeyboards already.

Man when you said you would be competitive on price you meant it :) Just wish my wallet would fill back up so I could get a HHKB Pro :( Right now any extra money that finds it's way into my wallet is going toward the new Honda Ridgeline I just got last week :) Man I'm really loving the new Truck.
