you rarely see that high a polygon-count for that area though.. (http://emoticoner.com/files/emoticons/onion-head/bled1-onion-head-emoticon.gif?1292862492)

well you don't have to..  generally if you notice deep contour and smooth gradient on self shadowing,   that is indicative of higher polygon count...

the mmo genre is gasping, enjoy it before it croaks!

*gasp*

WANT...

the mmo genre is gasping, enjoy it before it croaks!

Yeah, but only because the niche is saturated with cash-grab crap, instead of anyone ever getting around to making the fabled "WoW-killer" that apparently needs to be exactly like WoW, in order to "kill WoW..."

Too many resources being pumped into superficial and longevity-lacking development areas.

My advice to new MMO developers: "if you can't do it All, don't bother."

I've been waiting for Archeage... but i have a sneaking suspicion that it will be exactly what i expect, which is less than what i hope.

Yeah, no thanks. Any game willing to charge me $150 to give me some fancy stuff and still have "in-game credits" is not worth jack, jack.

For a long time I wanted to play another MMO. The problem is that there are no MMO's at the moment that excite me.

That is the thing with MMO's. To properly enjoy myself I have to be immersed. I have to get to know people to play with and invest some real time into it. That is only worth it if you are having a great time playing the game. In a lot of other genres, I will play the games even if they are just "alright". In an MMO however, I only play them if I love them. So far, there have only been two MMO's that really made me feel like that. For everything new that comes out, I am very skeptical and I feel like I am better off just sticking to CS:GO and BF4.

In other words. I am pretty hesitant about giving Archeage a try.

All games pretty much do that if you want more than just a "standard" edition though... the in-game credits in this case let you buy some useful things.

Have you still been playing?  My interest has been waning pretty quickly.  I felt like it had so much promise but I'm already bored. :(

Not very much since I hit lvl 30s in beta. I don't want to get burned out too quickly before launch and I've been revisiting old Gameboy/Nintendo DS RPGs.

The combat blows, but if you have other people to play with its more fun. I just wish they'd gone with real action combat over this tab targeting system. To be fair, there are some tab targeting games that aren't too bad, but in ArcheAge its rather dull. The combat in Aion Online was much more fluid.

Yeah, the tab target system really kills it for me.  Compared to others, it's not even that great. :(  I've been running around solo since most of my friends aren't into Korean MMO's so it's been a bit bleh.  I feel like you really need an active guild and patron status to get the most out of this game.

Needing an active guild is pretty much true of any MMO though, but I agree with the patron status. It's unfortunate that they advertised the game as a F2P instead of just making it a monthly sub.
