I'm super bad at searching, I can't find forum rules anywhere. Specifically, sig and avatar size limitations. Anyone have info on that? Sorry if this is the wrong section, I figured it would be least likely to be wrong here.
-
Can't find anything short term - avatar pictures are 120x120, or maybe 150x150 - this was hotly debated a while ago.
Try 150x150 - if that's too big then it's probably 120x120 :)
-
For avatar it will scale it down to whatever it is within reason. Most of the images I use are like 600x600 originally.
For signature, it's 777x70 and please DO NOT use anything animated.

Stickied at the top of the "New Members" section. :)

Mine is 130x130

I'm actually wondering about this.
What if it's a small animation, the 5 cars in Initial D, and then the respective owners waving or sitting there?

It's in the TOS link the JDCarpe posted above, but here is the relevant signature / avatar content quoted for the lazy:
note the section on "excessive animation"
Forum Signatures and Avatars
Signature Size Limitations: - A signature is a limited-sized area for our members to display personal information about themselves and their keyboards. Your signature is viewable in your profile and on every post you make. To create or edit your signature, please login to your GeekHack forum account, go to Profile > Forum Profile > fill in your signature in the signature section, and please remember to save your signature. In order to provide a quality forum experience for all of our members, signatures are limited to 777 x 70 pixels (1,000 characters max). Within that space, you may use any text, link and/or content as long as it remains consistent with the GeekHack’s TOS and the Marketplace Rules.
Signature and Avatar Contents: - Your user avatars and signatures are subject to moderator evaluation and may be removed--with prior notification--if they are NSFW ("Not Safe For Work"), are against the ToS, have excessive animation, or are generally distracting from clear viewing of post contents.
-
But that's GITS. It's allowed.

this tattletale! :P

You also have the option in the forum software to turn it off. We generally allow non-obnoxious gifs (eg NOT msw's sig)

The signature in question has since been removed. Just imagine about 10 gifs of IE/ Win advertisements circa the 90s.

That notes the signature size, not the avatar size.

I disabled signatures mainly because of that.

The main rule that people break or are not aware of around here is that you need to PM a picture of your genitals to the mods before you are allowed to participate in the hidden sales.

Is this new? As I know several who have/had animated sigs. One had like 5 tumblr gifs, heh.
Glad I turn them off in the settings, reminds me when I'm logged out ;)

So that's why I have been missing out on all these sales!

If anyone still wants to see the signature in all it's glory they can check the Wayback Machine. https://web.archive.org/web/20140702014102/http://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=59846.0

A fine work of art, wasn't it?

I miss the llamas.
That said, I like your new sig much better. It's more on-point.
You should add a presidential seal. NON-ANIMATED, of course.

one and only: never question the mods.
