hi guys,
I'm planning to paint my G80-1800H frame to metalic grey, but I have a doubt.....can I remove the led indicator plastic cover and apply it again after painting? It looks real thin and I'm afraid of damaging it, on the other hand if not removed it will appear a little beige under it (from the original plastic color) and the paint job wont be so perfect on that isolated square.

Thanks in advance ;)

You could print out a sticker in the same dimensions by scanning it and creating an image in PS. Just print it on clear sticker paper and it should be a good replacement if you have no other alternative but to take it off.

I think that isn't really an option since a sticker will let the led light to bleed a lot more than the original mate plastic. Moreover, I would prefer to go with original Cherry Corp. pieces, but thanks for the idea anyway :thumb:

have you tried using something like a hair dryer on medium heat, about 6-12" away with a circular motion to remove the sticker

I am also in the process of painting my G80 and found the removal of the sticker very easy.
Using a flat sharp blade at a low angle and taking my time did the trick.

thanks @2fewwpm, I will give it a try! ;)

Good luck!
Just make sure that you start at a corner and really take your timing getting the blade under the sticker.

Yes, I have painted Cherry cases before, just use hobbyknife to remove all the decals. If you take it easy it's not hard to remove them intact including the bottom model label. Most of the time the adhesive won't come off with the decals though so you will have to remove it fully during pre-prep for painting and reapply adhesive afterward to affix.

thanks Ivan,
what type of adhesive have you used in the re-apply?
